I must be honest, I don't follow sport news or soccer teams much unless it's the World Cup or I hear someone else talk about it. I was talking to one of the T.A.s here and I found out that soccer really wasn't a big deal until Korea hosted the World Cup. When I visited the Galleria/ Lotte Department (a 12-story building full of well known brands, and two basements full of a huge grocery store and restaurants) there was one floor with all athletic attires-- and Korean jerseys, as well as red "Go Korea!" shirts were on sale. It is getting me excited for the games to begin. I love the sport. Its a passion and for some, a religion. Our group always walks from KAIST to get to the galleria. During these 30 minutes of walking we usually see about 4 soccer games taking place-- adult men playing by the river, kids outside their schoolyard, teens out in the street. It's a good sport, but not the only one. neighborhood baseball games, batting cages at random streets, and TV's with games on are all over the city.
Today was not too exciting. I went running in the morning by the river in front of KAIST. It felt good since the weather is cooler at that hour, except that my foot was hurting. I think I might have pulled a muscle on the topside of my foot. Nevertheless, that didn't stop me from walking to the galleria area again to get some good chicken dinner, drink a sip of Korean beer, and get three flavors of Gelatto ice cream. (Mom, don't worry I only had a sip haha and Frans I am not an alcoholic hahaha). Oh, can't forget to mention the Korean way of pouring drinks to everyone else but yourself. Someone else has to pour for you. Plus, beer comes with popcorn! :)
Our Structural Control group had a Skype meeting with our head professor from UCONN. We finally got our tasks for the research-- guess I'll be hitting the books, internet articles, and the coffee shop nearby tomorrow. :) It's a good thing I enjoy learning about MR dampers or else this would actually seem like work.
I'm off to bed.. my 6 a.m. waking routine might end tomorrow since I am going to sleep at 11 pm this time. Let's hope my second swimming experience tomorrow turns out great!
